Dr. K. A. Shah Veterinary Clinic was set up in 1987 by the Director, Dr. K. A. Shah as a Veterinary practice which was located in a one-room facility with separate kennel space. The practice employed one other individual Mr. Gerald Sikali, besides Dr. Shah. Mr. Gerald Sikali (who incidentally is still actively employed in the practice) was Dr. Shah’s Veterinary Assistant in most treatments and even some surgical procedures. The practice was mostly ambulatory based and treated livestock and pets in and around Eldoret.
The practice grew over time and in 2001, moved to the present location which allowed it to expand its range of service even more. Dr. Lucas Aasava, Dr. Wesley Rutto, Dr. Kevin Oludo and Dr. Alex Kimeli were employed in the Clinic as Associate Veterinarians over various times.
In 2002, the Clinic started offering artificial insemination services under the name of Thorntree A.I. Services and were soon appointed to be the agents distributing Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre (KAGRC) genetics (then called Central Artificial Insemination Station – CAIS). Other companies marketing imported Genetics soon followed suit and currently Thorntree A. I. Services distributes and markets semen from Semex (Canada), Alta Genetics (USA), CRV (Holland), Pokea Farm (Germany), Fleckvieh (South Africa), WWS (USA) and TWG (Great Britain).

Our Team
Currently, the Veterinary Clinic and Thorntree A.I. Services are staffed by Dr. Kiran Shah (Director & Veterinarian-in-Charge), Mr. Gerald Sikali (Veterinary Assistant), Mrs. Everlyne Akinyi (Receptionist).
